What is the average salary of an architect in Mexico?

Studying architecture is not easy, nor get a good job and a competitive salary. According to one study, the architectural career occupies the XXth position regarding the highest paid in Mexico. (Mar, 21 Jan 2020)

The Mexican Institute of Competitiveness (IMCO) has just published the "Compare Careers 2019" platform. According to this information, the careers that represent an excellent investment are electronics and automation, accounting and control and education sciences architectural engineering salary.

On the contrary, careers whose investment is insecure are: audiovisual techniques and media production, music and performing arts, therapy and rehabilitation and architecture.

The highest paid careers in Mexico are (monthly salary):
Medicine: $ 17,449
Electronics and automation: $ 15,109
Environmental sciences: $ 14,320

The worst paid are (monthly salary):
Music and Performing Arts: $ 8,385
Teacher training for educational services: $ 8,484
Social care work: $ 8,575

The employment perspective indicates that the average net salary for an architect is $ 12,170, which places it in the 14th place of the highest paid careers.

According to the IMCO, Architecture occupies the 14th place in the highest paid careers, but it is interesting to compare the place with Construction and Civil Engineering, which occupies the position number 8, by averaging a monthly salary better than the architecture of $ 12,858 pesos.

These average salaries are obtained according to the average monthly income earned by busy people who studied the career, professionals who studied similar careers and all busy people who studied a professional career.

For its part, Labor Observatory offers interesting data regarding the salary that an architect receives in Mexico:

62.8% of the people who studied Architecture have a job according to their career.

Architecture is one of the careers that have the highest percentage of people over 45 years, as 37.7% of professionals have an age range between 25 and 34 years; 21.2 are between 35 and 44 years old, and then 36.6% are 45 years old or older, which indicates that age is not a factor in becoming unemployed.

In the category of Careers that have the highest percentages of self-employed or informal workers, the architecture is one of the lowest, since up to 64.6% of the professionals work for a company or office, and only 19.2 do it for own account.

Architecture is one of the careers with the lowest percentage of women professionals employed, as only 27.1% of the professionals employed are women, against 72.9% who are men. It is striking that women receive an average monthly salary of $ 11,023.00 on average and men receive an average monthly salary of $ 12,646.

Architecture ranks as one of the most informal careers, since 32.4% of professionals do not have social security. Informal work in Mexico refers to those subordinate workers who do not have access to a health institution through employment, that is, they do not have social security.
